Mono Band is the new project of Noel Hogan, songwriter and guitarist in The Cranberries.
Mono Band came about by accident. The project's origins lie in discussions The Cranberries began two years ago to plan their next album, but they decided to put the next album on hold instead. After more than dozen years of relentless touring and promotion, the band decided it was time for a break. The official line is that they are on a two year sabbatical.

But Noel had new songs that simply wouldn't wait around, the Mono Band album is the result, it wasn't really planned as a solo album at all.
